Synopsis:

Una década después de vencer al monstruoso Kraken, Perseo, semidiós hijo de Zeus, intenta vivir una vida más tranquila como un pescador aldeano y como único padre de su hijo de 10 años, Helio. Mientras tanto, una lucha por la supremacía se libra entre los Dioses y los Titanes. Peligrosamente debilitados por la falta de devoción de la humanidad, los Dioses están perdiendo el control de los titanes encerrados y de su furioso líder, Kronos, padre de los poderosos Zeus, Hades y Poseidón. El triunvirato ha derrocado a su padre tiempo atrás, dejándolo pudrir en el abismo oscuro de Tartarus, un calabozo que se encuentra en el cavernoso inframundo.

Perseo no puede ignorar el llamado cuando Hades, junto con el religioso hijo de Zeus, Ares, dejan a un lado la lealtad y hacen un trato con Kronos para capturar a Zeus. La fuerza de los Titanes ha crecido tanto como la de Zeus y entonces el infierno se desata en la tierra. Con la ayuda de la Reina guerrera Andrómeda, el hijo semidiós de Poseidón, Argenor y el Dios caído Hephaestus, Perseo valientemente se embarca en una peligrosa búsqueda en el inframundo para rescatar a Zeus, derrocando a los Titanes y salvando a la humanidad.

Synopsis

A decade after his heroic defeat of the monstrous Kraken, Perseus-the demigod son of Zeus-is attempting to live a quieter life as a village fisherman and the sole parent to his 10-year old son, Helius. Meanwhile, a struggle for supremacy rages between the gods and the Titans. Dangerously weakened by humanity’s lack of devotion, the gods are losing control of the imprisoned Titans and their ferocious leader, Kronos, father of the long-ruling brothers Zeus, Hades and Poseidon.

The triumvirate had overthrown their powerful father long ago, leaving him to rot in the gloomy abyss of Tartarus, a dungeon that lies deep within the cavernous underworld. Perseus cannot ignore his true calling when Hades, along with Zeus’ godly son, Ares (Edgar Ramírez), switch loyalty and make a deal with Kronos to capture Zeus.

The Titans’ strength grows stronger as Zeus’ remaining godly powers are siphoned, and hell is unleashed on earth. Enlisting the help of the warrior Queen Andromeda (Rosamund Pike), Poseidon’s demigod son, Argenor (Toby Kebbell), and fallen god Hephaestus (Bill Nighy), Perseus bravely embarks on a treacherous quest into the underworld to rescue Zeus, overthrow the Titans and save mankind.

Since its debut at the Cannes Film Festival in 2010, the five-and-a-half hour biopic has earned rave reviews and both the LA and NY film critics named it Best Foreign-Language film last December. Last October, “Carlos” aired as a three-part miniseries on producing partner Sundance (thus qualifying for the Emmys) and this January it won the Golden Globe for Best TV Movie/Mini.

Ramirez chatted with Gold Derby senior editor Rob Licuria from the Canary Islands where he is currently shooting “Wrath of the Titans,” the sequel to the hit 2010 blockbuster “Clash of the Titans.” He revealed how overwhelmed he had been by all the positive feedback for “Carlos.”

Recalling his experience as a nominee at the Golden Globes he said, “it was really touching to have people that I have admired my whole life [tell me] the most amazing things about my work” and admitted it was, “a humbling experience … to be nominated in the same category as Al Pacino … right there and then, I was already a winner!”
